My name is João Gilberto de Matos Orvalho and I was born in Abrantes in 13/3/1962
 I received an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering (Informatic speciality) from the University of Coimbra (UC) in 1987, the MsC degree in Systems and Technologies of the Information also from UC in 1994 and the Ph.D. degree in Informatics Engineering by the University of Coimbra (DEI) in 2001. I'm  member of CISUC (Centre for Informatics and Suystems of the University of Coimbra) at the Communications and Telematic Services Research Group (CST) and also Teaching Assistant at College of Education, Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (ESEC).
Right now I'm working in ARMS (Reliable Multicast Protocol Extensions to the CORBA Event Service) and CONCHA (CONference system based on java and corba event service CHAnnels) projects.
I'm interested in 
Multimedia Communication Systems in General: Quality of Service(QoS) Support, Real-Time Protocols, Multicast Communication (reliable transport and congestion control)
Multimedia Distributed Systems, Applications, and Support Platforms (Middleware: QoS-aware Middlewares)
Mobile Communication
I'm also interested in the development of learning materials and pedagogy, particularly the use of Internet-based multimedia material.

 I'm working in CONCHA, specialy on ARMS.
