They're just words, they ain't worth nothing
Cloud your head and push your buttons
And watch how they just disappear
When we're far away from here

And everybody knows where this is heading
Forgive me for forgetting
Our hearts irrevocably combined
Star-crossed souls slow dancing
Retreating and advancing
Across the sky until the end of time

Oh who put all those cares inside your head
You can't live your life on your deathbed
And it's been such a lovely day
Let's not let it end this way

And everybody knows where this is heading
Forgive me for forgetting
Our hearts irrevocably combined
Star-crossed souls slow dancing
Retreating and advancing
Across the sky until the end of time

Like sisters and brothers we lean on each other
Like sweethearts carved on a headstone
Oh why even bother, it'll be here tomorrow
It's not worth it sleeping alone

And look at you and me still here together
There is no one knows you better
And we've come such a long long way
Let's put it off for one more day

And everybody knows where this is heading
Forgive me for forgetting
Our hearts irrevocably combined
Star-crossed souls slow dancing
Retreating and advancing
Across the sky until the end of time

"What a fuss people make about fidelity!" exclaimed Lord Henry. "Why, even in love it is purely a question for physiology. It has nothing to do with our own will. Young men want to be faithful, and are not; old men want to be faithless, and cannot: that is all one can say."

...

"My dear boy, the people who love only once in their lives are really the shallow people. What they call their loyalty, and their fidelity, I call either the lethargy of custom or their lack of imagination. Faithfulness is to the emotional life what consistency is to the life of the intellect--simply a confession of failure. Faithfulness! I must analyse it some day. The passion for property is in it. There are many things that we would throw away if we were not afraid that others might pick them up. But I don't want to interrupt you. Go on with your story."

"Ever since man has learned to give each part of the body a name, the body has given him less trouble. He has also learned that the soul is nothing more than the gray matter of the brain in action. The old duality of body and soul has become shrouded in scientific terminology, and we can laugh at it as merely an obsolete prejudice.
But just make someone who has fallen in love listen to his stomach rumble, and the unity of body and soul, that lyrical illusion of the age of science, instantly fades away."

What if this is as good as it gets?

There was a boy
A very strange, enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he...
And then one day
One magic day
He passed my way
And while we spoke of many things
Fools and kings
This he said to me...
'The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love...and be loved in return.

"Prime numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them."

"Mrs. Peters's husband is a vicar called the Reverend Peters, and he comes to our school sometimes to talk to us, and I asked him where heaven was and he said, "It's not in our universe. It's another kind of place altogether."
The Reverend Peters makes a funny ticking noise with his tongue sometimes when he is thinking. And he smokes cigarettes and you can smell them on his breath and I don't like this.
I said that there wasn't anything outside the universe and there wasn't another kind of place altogether. Except that there might be if you went through a black hole, but a black hole is what is called a singularity, which means it is impossible to find out what is on the other side because the gravity of a black hole is so big that even electromagnetic waves like light can't get out of it, and electromagnetic waves are how we get information about things which are far away. And if heaven was on the other side of a black hole, dead people would have to be fired into space on rockets to get there, and they aren't or people would notice.
I think people believe in heaven because they don't like the idea of dying, because they want to carry on living and they don't like the idea that other people will move into their house and put their things into the rubbish.
The Reverend Peters said, "Well, when I say that heaven is outside the universe it's really just a manner of speaking. I suppose what it really means is that they are with God."
And I replied, "But where is God?"
And the Reverend Peters said that we should talk about this on another day when he had more time."

Soneto do Maior Amor

Ferir a fenecer - e vive a esmo

Fiel à sua lei de cada instante
Desassombrado, doido, delirante
Numa paixão de tudo e de si mesmo

Like a lover, the morning sun
Slowly rises and kisses you awake
Your smile is soft and drowsy
As you let it play upon your face
Oh, how I dream
I might be like the morning sun to you

Like a lover, the river wind
Sighs and ripples its fingers through your hair
Upon your cheek it lingers
Never having known a sweeter place
Oh, how I dream
I might be like the river wind to you

How I envy a cup that knows your lips
Let it be me, my love
And a table that feels your fingertips
Let it be me, let me be your love
Bring an end to the endless days and nights
without you

Like a lover, the velvet moon
Shares your pillow and watches while you sleep
Its light arrives on tiptoe
Gently taking you in its embrace
Oh, how I dream
I might be like the velvet moon to you

How I envy a cup that knows your lips
Let it be me, my love
And a table that feels your fingertips
Let it be me, let me be your love
Bring an end to the endless days and nights
without you

Oh, hey, hey, hey, hey

Like a lover, the velvet moon
Shares your pillow and watches while you sleep
Its light arrives on tiptoe
Gently taking you in its embrace
Oh, how I dream
I might be like the velvet moon
I might be like the morning sun
I might be like the river wind
To you

Like a lover, like a lover
Show me
Show me

CONSELHO

Cerca de grandes muros quem te sonhas.
Depois, onde é visível o jardim
através do portão de grade dada,
põe quantas flores são as mais risonhas,
para que te conheçam só assim.
Onde ninguém o vir, não ponhas nada.

Faze canteiros como os que outros têm,
onde os olhares possam entrever
o teu jardim como lho vais mostrar.
Mas onde és teu, e nunca o vê ninguém,
deixa as flores que vêm do chão crescer
e deixa as ervas naturais medrar.

Faze de ti um duplo ser guardado;

Querendo, quero o infinito.
Fazendo, nada é verdade.

Que nojo de mim me fica
Ao olhar para o que faço!
Minha alma é lúcida e rica,
E eu sou um mar de sargaço

Um mar onde bóiam lentos
Fragmentos de um mar de além...
Vontades ou pensamentos
Não o sei e sei-o bem.

Para ser grande, sê inteiro: nada
teu exagera ou exclui.
Sê todo em cada coisa. Põe quanto és
no mínimo que fazes.
Assim em cada lago a lua toda
brilha, porque alta vive.

WILL
I know what I'm doing. She's different
from the other girls I met. We have a
really good time. She's smart,
beautiful, fun...

SEAN
So Christ, call her up.

WILL
Why? So I can realize she's not so
smart. That she's boring. You don't
get it. Right now she's perfect, I
don't want to ruin that.

SEAN
And right now you're perfect too.
Maybe you don't want to ruin that.

Will says nothing.

SEAN (cont'd)
Well, I think that's a great philosophy
Will, that way you can go through your
entire life without ever having to
really know anybody.

Sean looks directly at Will, who looks away. A beat.

SEAN (cont'd)
My wife used to turn the alarm clock
off in her sleep. I was late for work
all the time because in the middle of
the night she'd roll over and turn the
damn thing off. Eventually I got a
second clock and put it under my side
of the bed, but it got to where she was
gettin' to that one too. She was
afraid of the dark, so the closet light
was on all night. Thing kept me up
half the night. Eventually I'd fall
asleep, out of sheer exhaustion and
not wake up when I was supposed to
cause she'd have already gotten to my
alarms.

Will smiles, Sean takes a beat.

SEAN (cont'd)
My wife's been dead two years, Will.
And when I think about her, those are
the things I think about most. Little
idiosyncrasies that only I knew about.
Those made her my wife. And she had
the goods on me too. Little things I
do out of habit. People call these
things imperfections Will. It's just
who we are. And we get to choose who
we're going to let into out weird
little worlds. You're not perfect.
And let me save you the suspense, this
girl you met isn't either. The question
is, whether or not you're perfect for
each other. You can know everything
in the world, but the only way you're
findin' that one out is by giving it a
shot. You sure won't get the answer
from an old fucker like me. And even
if I did know, I wouldn't tell you.

William Somerset: I just don't think I can continue to live in a place that embraces and nurtures apathy as if it was virtue.
David Mills: You're no different. You're no better.
William Somerset: I didn't say I was different or better. I'm not. Hell, I sympathize; I sympathize completely. Apathy is the solution. I mean, it's easier to lose yourself in drugs than it is to cope with life. It's easier to steal what you want than it is to earn it. It's easier to beat a child than it is to raise it. Hell, love costs: it takes effort and work.
