Scalability and Realtime for Data Warehouses and BigData (Computer Science Texts) (Volume 1) Paperback – July 14, 2015 by Pedro Nuno Furtado (Author)

Pedro Furtado is Professor at University of Coimbra UC, Portugal, where he teaches courses in both Computer and Biomedical Engineering. He has more than 25 years experience in both teaching, doing research and supervising industry projects. He has a broad interest in computer science subjects, with the main focus being on performance and scalability qualities of systems. Pedro applied these qualities in data warehousing and analytics, bigdata, data mining, cloud, IoT and realtime systems. He also works in assistive technologies in healthcare scenarios and biomedical image analysis. Pedro has more than 150 papers published in international conferences and journals, books published and several research collaborations with both industry and academia. In the last years, Pedro has spent time as visiting scholar in some of the most prestigious universities in the world, and collaborating with non-profit institutions. Besides a PhD in Computer Engineering from U. Coimbra (UC) (2000), Pedro Furtado also holds an MBA from Universidade Catolica Portuguesa (UCP) (2004).

Instructions for prospective PhD students:

I learned a lot from advising PHD thesis. In the future, I would like to advise PhD thesis on the set of disparate topics in which I worked. I have some bright ideas on each. If you ask me about any one of those topics, I will be able to tell you exactly what I have in mind. But let me share some thoughts with you:
